The Majick Feathers "Birdy Bus"
Our TasBash Story
Majick Feathers is a proud supporter of Variety – the Children’s Charity. Every year we actively donate our time to fundraising by going out into the community and setting up with our birds on display and asking for donations for Variety
We have a Variety TasBash car which is themed as “The Birdy Bus” and we take a few of the birds on the bash with us. We visit schools all over Tasmania while “On Bash” and bring joy to the children while there by having the birds to show off their talents.
We travel with our trailer aviary, which is the birds accommodation overnight, and BASHA our TasBash mascot.

Not a business? Not a problem! There are plenty of ways you can help bring the Birdy Bus to life:
🛠 Got skills? We’re always grateful for hands-on help with the work needed to get the Birdy Bus adventure-ready. If you have mechanical, electrical, or fabrication skills (or just a willingness to lend a hand), we’d love to hear from you!
📢 Join our fundraising efforts! Whether it’s helping at market stalls, running events, or spreading the word, every bit of support helps us reach our goal.
💰 Donations welcome! Even if you can’t commit to a sponsorship, every dollar helps us support Variety and bring joy to kids across Tasmania.
This is more than a sponsorship—it’s a chance to make an impact, connect with the community, and be part of something truly unique. Ready to get on board?
Let’s chat about how we can make your brand take flight with the Birdy Bus!
The Birdy Bus
Some projects start with a plan—ours started with a passion for classic cars, a love for birds, and a wild idea to bring them together for a great cause!
A New Theme Takes Flight
After successfully completing TasBash in the Pink Panther, one thing was clear: the birds needed to be part of the adventure. Seeing the joy they brought to people, especially kids, inspired a new theme that would let them ride along—thus, The Birdy Bus was hatched!
The first Birdy Bus was a humble little Suzuki Vitara, decked out with custom stickers and a trailer-turned-aviary for the birds’ accommodations (don’t worry—the birds never traveled in the trailer, just enjoyed it as their mobile home). They even got their own mascot, Basha, who sported a harness for the journey.
Kichi and Apollo became official TasBash co-pilots, but as fun as the Suzuki was, it was a bit too small. Then, fate intervened—a minor accident left the Suzuki beyond repair. Thankfully, everyone was safe, but it meant the Birdy Bus needed an upgrade!
From Pink Panther to Feathered Fun
It all began in 2018 when Nathan, a classic car enthusiast, picked up a 1971 Jaguar XJ6 with one mission: to take on the Variety Bash (TasBash in Tasmania) and raise funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity. His love for vintage rides & memories of participating in a Variety Bash at 17 in Queensland, made this an exciting challenge. But every Bash car needs a theme, and what better choice for a Jaguar than The Pink Panther?
The transformation began! The car turned bright pink, a Pink Panther mascot took its rightful place on the roof, and the vehicle was outfitted with all the necessary TasBash modifications, from flashing amber lights to a UHF radio. During the build, Kichi, Nathan’s feathered sidekick, kept a close eye on the process—earning the title of Number 1 Helper.

Feathers in the Fundraising
With the Pink Panther ready to roll, the next challenge was fundraising. That’s where the birds came in! Nathan and Melissa, along with their flock—Horus, Capone, Kichi, and Apollo—hit the markets and partnered with businesses, offering fun photo ops in exchange for donations to Variety.
The Next Chapter – The Majick Feathers Birdy Bus
Enter the new Birdy Bus—a retired Ford F-Series ambulance, now undergoing a full transformation to become the Majick Feathers Birdy Bus! Not only does this upgrade give us more space for the birds and our TasBash adventures, but it also checks a major box for Pirate Nate’s classic car passion—because this beast packs a V8 under the hood! That deep, throaty rumble will be part of the Birdy Bus experience, making sure we roll up in style and sound.
With bigger plans, more space, and that unmistakable V8 growl, this new ride is set to bring even more smiles, laughs, and feathered fun to TasBash. If all goes according to plan, this epic bird-mobile will be ready to roll by late 2025!
We can’t wait to hit the road and share the joy of birds, classic cars, and a bit of vroom while supporting an incredible cause. Stay tuned for updates on the Birdy Bus journey!
