Daisy-Duke: The Bossy, Chatty, and Utterly Adorable Conure!

Daisy-Duke is a Jenday Conure who strutted her way into the Majick Feathers flock on April 20, 2021. She’s about the same age as Bandit, and together they’re known as The Twins—but more on that in a moment!

Daisy-Duke came from a loving home where she was well cared for, but unfortunately, the other animals in the house weren’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat for her. For her safety and happiness, her family made the difficult decision to rehome her, and that’s how she found her way to us. And let’s just say… she has made herself very comfortable here!

Her previous carers had named her Daisy, but once she settled in, it quickly became clear that this wasn’t just any Daisy—this Daisy had attitude. She was bossy, chatty, and just the right amount of sassy. So, in true Majick Feathers fashion, we decided her name needed a little extra flair. Inspired by her bold personality and her namesake from The Dukes of Hazzard, she officially became Daisy-Duke! And trust us, she wears the name with pride.

When Daisy arrived, her wings had been clipped, meaning she was grounded while Bandit zipped around like a tiny, feathery stunt pilot. Her feathers have since grown back, and she can fly now, but she’s still building up her confidence and strength. Of course, that hasn’t stopped her from making up for it in other ways—like bossing Bandit around! In fact, she and Bandit became so inseparable that they earned the nickname The Twins. Juvenile Sun and Jenday Conures have nearly identical coloring, and while Sun Conures develop their signature golden hues after their first molt, the nickname had already stuck. And let’s be real—it suits them perfectly!

Daisy-Duke is an absolute sweetheart with a lot to say. She loves sitting on our shoulders, enthusiastically telling us “stories” (which, to the untrained ear, might just sound like a chaotic mix of garbles and chirps—but we know she’s sharing something important). She does have a few clear words, though! She proudly says “Kiss,” “Thank you,” and “Big Wings.” And speaking of Big Wings, when she lifts her wings on cue, Bandit often joins in, making for a ridiculously cute little synchronized performance.

Daisy is also very affectionate and loves to give kisses on command—usually followed by her happily declaring, “Kiss!” just in case you missed what she was doing. She’s a social butterfly (or, well, a social parrot) and is often happy to interact with the public in our mobile aviary. She’ll take treats, perch on shoulders for photos, and even have a little chat—though, as with all the flock, we let her decide when she’s in the mood for the spotlight.

Training-wise, Daisy is making fantastic progress! She’s already mastered Target, Step-Up, Recall, and Big Wings, and she’s now working on something even more impressive—playing basketball! (We have no doubt she’ll be dunking on Bandit in no time.)

With her sassy personality, sweet nature, and love for storytelling, Daisy-Duke has become a cherished part of the flock. Whether she’s bossing Bandit around, showing off her tricks, or giving the cutest little kisses, she’s always keeping us entertained!
