Apollo

About Apollo

Apollo is a Blue & Gold Macaw, he hatched in 2018 in Tasmania and was raised by his Macaw parents in an aviary for the first 12 months of his life. Apollo was adopted into the flock in 2019 and has since become one of the stars of Majick Feathers (he would argue he is THE star)

Also known as Mister and Rat bag, Apollo is a show off and loves attention. He is not a cuddly bird but does enjoy scratches from his humans (servants) Melissa & Nathan when HE decides he wants (insists on) them. When out and about he doesn’t like being reached out to by people he doesn’t know but is happy to take treats from people or step up onto their arms if his humans say its OK

Taking care of Apollo is like looking after a 3 year old child on a sugar rush, luckily for us, as he Free-Flys he burns off a lot of his excess energy. Apollo is a lot of work, loves attention, very messy and can be very loud and excitable

Apollo has a BIG personality and is always doing funny little things and making us laugh. He is quick to learn new tricks and loves to show off how he does them. Some of his tricks are – Big Wings, High Five, Flip, Spin, Bat, Bat Wings and The Bucket Trick – And of course he Free-Flys.

He loves to watch his favourite YouTube channel “Mikey & Mia”( 2 Free-Flying macaws in the UK) and will often watch them for hours, copying what they say and flying around the room when they fly.

Performance and Play

A show with Apollo is never dull. Her performances are a mix of grace and whimsy, as he weaves through the air or executes perfectly timed tricks. From flying through hoops to playing basketball, Apollo’s repertoire is impressive. Yet, it’s his playful spirit that truly captivates audiences. He has a knack for improvisation, often adding his own flair to well-practiced routines.

His playful side isn’t confined to the stage. Behind the scenes, Apollo is just as spirited. Whether he’s jostling with her feathered friends or exploring his environment, he’s a bundle of energy. His antics often bring laughter and joy to those lucky enough to witness them.

Apollo has quite a vocabulary and is always learning new words and phrases (we have implemented “G” rated speech when around him for this reason). He says – Hello, Scratch, Nut, Good-Boy, Rat Bag, Hat, Stop it, Thank You, Love You, Mikey Mia, Step Up, Want a Strawberry and more

Apollo is trained, he is not tame and he knows exactly what he wants. We don’t own Apollo, he CHOOSES to be a part of our flock & family.
