Meet The Flock – Kichi
The Majick Feathers Flock
Kichi
Kichi is a Sulpher-Crest Cockatoo, she is a rescue that joined the flock in 2017 & was thought to be around 6 months old at the time and did require a short period of hand feeding. Not much else is known about her prior to joining our flock.
When she joined the flock it was found that she had a damaged keel which has not healed correctly, this combined with her loosing her flight feathers yearly has inhibited her ability to be a confidant flyer.
Kichi is an affectionate bird but does get nervous around strangers and will seek out her favourite human Nathan and snuggle for protection. This has earned her the nickname “Snuggles”. She loves to dance and due to Nathan’s influence with music is a bit of a “Head Banger” and loves heavier music and will bop away when its played. She is harness trained and often goes on outings and was one of the birds that went on “Variety – TasBash” with us.
Kichi is easily distracted when training and gets overwhelmed when there is to much going on and will retreat to a high spot to watch. She has learned a few tricks such as Step-Up, Recall, Targeting, Station and Dance. Kichi does talk and says Hello, Kichi, Capone, Cuddle, What Ya Doin and some random garble, some of her speech she has learnt from Capone and mimics the way that she says things
